About Phil
Phil has a PhD in Computational Science and a degree in Applied Chemistry. After working for 10 years in science at the Institute for Cancer Research and Tom Connors Cancer Research Centre, Phil and his family moved to Pembrokeshire where he has been supporting IT for the last 5 years. With over 20 years experience of using, supporting and teaching IT, Phil retains a passion for IT.
About Pendre
Pendre, or pen-y-dre, is Welsh for top (or head) of town. We took the name from that of our house which is appropriately located at the top of the Pembrokeshire village of Templeton, near Narberth. At Pendre, we promote the use of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS), and specialise in Linux. We use and recommend CentOS, based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), for it's enterprise-level stability, scalability and long-term support. We have built and support a number of custom solutions based on CentOS including file and backup servers for Windows clients, custom email servers and web hosting.
